The Libra Observance: Feast of the Illumined Heart

In October is held another transcendent Observance, The Feast of the Illumined Heart. The Hierarchies of Gemini and Cancer pour their Love force into the spiritual realms of Earth during the Gemini period. In the month of Leo this mighty Love current comes down and diffuses the desire and the etheric regions of the earth. Then in October the glorious Love power touches Earth’s physical body. This takes place at the time of the Autumn Equinox. The Love radiations of the Christ gradually penetrate the various strata of the planet until, at the time of the Winter Solstice, they attain their maximum power and brilliancy in the heart of the earth. Each day from the Autumn Equinox to the Winter Solstice offers the aspirant an opportunity for making special preparation for bringing the Christ Spirit to birth within his own heart. Hosts of ministering Angels, led by the Divine Lady, pour streams of Light and Love upon the earth. Many Saints who have seen visions of the Lady have described the glorious Light that radiates from her hands and feet. Bernadette referred to them as beautiful centers of Light like unto roses in bloom. It is from these awakened spiritual centers that the Holy Virgin continuously rays Love and Light upon Mankind.
As this mighty Christ Current permeates the earth year after year, evolutionary forces are progressively accelerated. As the Christ impulse registers ever more strongly and clearly in the hearts and minds of men, kindness, tolerance, love, sympathy and compassion will gradually replace their opposites. The inhumanity of man toward his fellow man and toward his little brothers of the animal kingdom will cease. Brotherhood will become a reality on earth. Such are the objectives the Blessed Lady is ever seeking to bring into fulfillment.

September—Golden Rod. In September the annual inflow of Light is celebrated as the Nativity Feast, the birth month of Mother Mary. Blessed herbs, through whose astral prototypes the Beloved Lady has poured streams of healing force as luminous projections from her hands of light, belong to this, her natal month. These herbs possess magic to drive away evil and negative forces, to soothe and sustain tired and broken bodies, and dedicated to the fairies and the angels.

The Virgo Observance: The Ceremonial of Peace

In September is held the exalted Ceremonial of Peace. A poet tells us that the word “September” is a synonym for peace. As the Mystic knows, at this season of the year all Earth is bathed in a glorious mood of divine stillness. During this month sensitives like to retire into silence and serenity of forests for meditation and to receive illumination, for hosts of celestial Beings then come close to Earth.
In fact, this planet is literally flooded with a brooding calm. There are those in our mundane sphere who are caught up so they can witness the September spectacle and then return inspired to dedicate their lives to service in the cause of peace. The Divine Lady works ardently and continuously for peace, so it was natural that she chose the tranquil time of Virgo for her own earthly nativity.
The Hierarchy of Virgo is that of the Lords of Wisdom. The most exalted member of this Hierarchy is feminine in principle and is referred to as The World Mother. Those who are familiar with paintings of the greatest of modern artists, Nicholas Roerich, know that much of his art inspiration was centered around the Cosmic Mother. Many of his most famous canvasses, now distributed throughout the two hemispheres, depict the radiant countenance of the Beneficent One. It is She who becomes the teacher of sanctified feminine Initiate chosen to be the physical mother of a World Savior. This transcendent Cosmic Being gives instruction in the most profound of all mysteries, the Immaculate Conception.
The Immaculate Conception is the highest attainment of humanity. It is the golden bridge linking our human life wave with that of the Angels. Mary passed over this bridge before she was deemed worthy to become the perfect type-pattern for exemplifying the sacred Mystery of the Immaculate Conception.

The Leo Observance: Feast of the Assumption

And now comes the sublimity of the Leo Observance. It is spoken of as The Assumption of the Blessed Virgin. She was always closer to the Angels than she was to humanity. Poets have referred to her as being half human and half divine even in her girlhood; great artists have depicted her as surrounded by Angels when engaged in the most humble household tasks.
The Leo Ritual is based on the supreme Initiation of the Divine Lady. Having learned all the lessons Earth had to teach, she was lifted up on the vibrant currents of the Leo Love wave and transported into angelic realms. Hence the Church teaches that Mary is Queen of both Angels and men.
To Mary’s Initiation came great celestial beings, row on row and rank on rank, each one filled with such fair and luminous shining, with such rare radiance, that it seemed as though the brightest galaxies of the skies had deserted Heaven to pay homage to Earth.
The Feast of the Assumption marks one of Earth’s sublimest events, for therein Mary, the Blessed Lady, became Mary, the Divine Lady. She had perfected her humanity and was ready, while yet in physical embodiment, to put aside her garment of mortality and be arrayed in the robe of immortality. She was prepared to scale the golden evolutionary ladder which stretches between the human and the angelic kingdoms. Mary the woman became Mary the Angel.
Every celestial Hierarchy attending this sublime event moved on it respective musical keynote, each tone so piercingly sweet that the air quivered in ecstasy, and the very stars re-echoed the divine chanting. Verily, Mary through her divinity was crowned to the music of the spheres.
Yet the perfected Mary had renounced her high estate to spend practically all her time on the earth plane. Wherever there is deep sorrow, wherever there is tragic disaster, she and her host of ministering Angels are to be found rendering service. She will continue to perform such ministrations until all humanity is Christed.

July a vase of White Lilies

July—the White Lily—a native of the Holy Land, is the symbol of the Feast of the Visitation which is celebrated in July, the month of Cosmic Remembrance. Wherever the Visitation is preserved, the vase of white lilies stands by the Virgin’s side, crowned with an aureole of three mystic blossoms.
